On the cusp of human potential...

With a nod to Matt Haig's The Life Impossible, maybe we're still just on the cusp of human potential.

On the cusp of human potential...

There is a beautiful sentence in Matt Haig's The Life Impossible that I will need to paraphrase (I have leant the book to my mother) but it essentially offers that each generation, each person while alive, assumes we have realized the entirety of human potential. That how we engage the world today is how humans will always engage the world...

But it's not true. In Haig's book, this translates to a character developing telepathy, precognition, telekineses and even enhanced communications with animals. But, even if you don't think humans will evolve in those ways, there are always humans pushing us to new heights and boundaries. Running faster miles. Climbing new mountains.

It's an optimistic thought – That we are still seeking our maximum boundary. That human beings are still capable of new ideas, new possibilities, new levels of empathy, new ways of positively changing the world.

Life can be hard. Society is complicated. But maybe, just maybe, we're still on the cusp of human potential...
